Thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity are just ones of the characteristics that draw me close to people. Simple gestures of wishing you well on your work day, on your weekend or just any day; to extend you with warm smiles and hugs; to bring and present you with a simple yet touching token of appreciation indeed makes my heart swelled with wonder and love. I don’t expect for people to return favor to favor. I just want to help them in as best as I could. I do things on my own accord without expecting something in return. I think, the adage is true that says, “what you sow is what you reap”. When you sow kindness to others, you will reap the same from them. It is something that when given away, you end up having more.
Sometimes, we just have to be careful so as not to be taken advantage of. In everything, there is a limitation. There is nothing wrong to say “no” when the circumstance called us to do so. We shouldn’t compromise ourselves, our beliefs, and our credibility just to please others. We also need to protect ourselves from unscrupulous people so we won’t be victimized of their selfish schemes.
Be kind and spread love today and always.
“The empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description.” -Steve Maraboli
Stereotyping and sex discrimination is still a hot potato even in our modern society. The antediluvian ideas that women do not have a role in the society is a universal issue that has been fought and debated by a lot of people in different media platform. Despite the endless discourse, we can somehow feel that little by little our contributions have been recognized and we undoubtedly play an important role in all areas and aspect of our society. Gender equality may still have a long way to go, however, we cannot be deterred to prove that we can be someone who we want to be with all our talents, potential, knowledge and skills as an individual. We may not completely uproot the negative notion about women empowerment rather we can show the world how special and unique we are to have the same status quo as an essentially veritable contributor to achieving advancement goals in development and sustainability to improve the quality of life for women, men, families and communities. We should take courage to stand on our own and to fight for our rights as a human. There are a lot of women around the world to whom we can find inspiration from. Women who accomplished great things for their cause be it in economics, political, social etc. Women’s empowerment offers us a pathway to a new life so be yourself and be empowered today!
I am fascinated with music so do my daughters but unfortunately, I am not among those who have the gift to sing. Even if that was the case, it didn’t hinder me to still love listening to it. Last Sunday, on our way to attend the worship service in the church, we happened to arrive earlier than the scheduled worship service. To kill the time, we wandered around the mall and we found out that there was a live concert at the event hall. It was a recital of the students from Voice Power Philippines and we decided to watch the show first. The performers sang and danced to the tune of popular 2015 music that made the audience to sing along and others even danced on the aisles. It was spectacular and a well-prepared performance and I’m sure that the production team, coaches and performers alike are all proud for such a superb and memorable show. I hope that those kids will have a bright future and find their spot in the limelight in the ever competitive world of music.
Moreover, with our hearts still filled with delight and wonder, we had our first encounter with God for the year. It was the first Sunday of the month and year, so it was rightful to offer our time to God in prayer, praise and worship. I was blessed with the message of the day which dealt about past regrets. It was a chance for me to contemplate on my own experience if there is still something that impedes in my walk with the Lord. Truly, we have our past regrets, pain, frustrations, etc. that barred us from moving forward. We have to uproot and acknowledge where it was all coming from and relinquished from its bondage that caused us to be trapped to where we are right now. Sometimes, we unconsciously do not discern the existence of such things in our lives but if we dig deeper into every aspect of our lives, we will understand that somehow there are matters in the past that holding us back to really move on. Only through confrontation, acceptance and forgiveness that we can completely free ourselves from all the hurtful things and regrets that we have. By the power, grace and love of our almighty God, we can find peace.
This is a time for a new beginning. A fresh start to do whatever we missed from the last year. Now is our chance to do something differently from before. Keep moving forward!
